Being a mother of 2 toddlers, I know that finding time for yourself can often times be a task in and of itself. When it comes to taking care of yourself though, you need to make sure you find time to do so no matter what! If you are not healthy and happy then no one will be healthy and happy. Like the saying “If Mom is not happy, NO ONE is happy.” In most households the mother is in charge of meal planning and cooking, yes I understand that in some it is the father’s duty or a shared duty, so this article is good for everyone. If you are not on you’re A game, it is going to effect the whole family. So finding time to keep yourself healthy and workout is a MUST!
Today was one of those days for me. It was raining and I hit snooze a couple of times. I woke up, headed downstairs to do my morning workout and about 5 minutes into it, my 2 year old was standing next to me. He needed to go potty, he wanted a drink, and he’s ready for breakfast. By the time we got to the top of the steps I could hear my daughter whining to get out of her crib. Ughhhh so that meant my workout had to be put on hold. After making breakfast and getting them ready for the day, I was feeling totally bummed that I didn’t get my workout in. So that’s when I popped in the DVD and just went at it. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do! The kids decided to join in at times, which made it more of a challenge, but hey no pain no gain, right?! When they were not climbing all over me, or trying to master the move themselves, they were gawking at me. Probably wondering “What the heck is mommy doing?!?”
Tricep dips with the lighter of the two, thank goodness!
Push ups with some assistance.
The toughest of all, the forearm plank with an additional 32lbs on my back!!
Trying to MASTER the moves!
Being a mom, you just learn to roll with the punches. If your “me” time is like mine and it is before the family wakes and once they go to bed, then you will find yourself getting creative when it comes to taking care of yourself.
