This post is not just for new moms, it’s for all moms. All moms of all shapes and all sizes. When you decide you are ready to have a baby, there are a million happy thoughts running through your mind and one of them is the anticipation of the physical change that comes along with being pregnant. For the first couple of months you are waiting for your belly to “pop” and in most cases you cannot wait for the first signs of your bump. During this time, you are visiting your doctor and making sure you are gaining the right amount of weight to have a healthy baby and a healthy pregnancy. For the next couple of months you are enjoying your growing belly and still keeping on track with that weight gain. Throughout these 9 months, you are enjoying the physical changes that your body is going through because you know the outcome is going to be a beautiful addition to your family.

During your pregnancy you also anticipate how your body will be once your bundle of joy arrives. Some questions going through most women’s minds are “Will I have stretch marks?” “Will this bump just go away?” “How much of this weight is ‘lost’ during delivery?” “Will I get back into shape after all of this?” For me, I wish I would have asked some veteran moms these questions because what I thought and what the actual outcome was were polar opposites!! Maybe I was being naive or maybe I just had “baby brain” but I totally thought I would deliver and my “baby bump” would be gone! I knew obviously that I would be carrying all that extra weight, but I did not expect to still look pregnant when I was in fact no longer pregnant!
As for the weight loss and getting “back into shape” well, that was NOT easy!! Nope. Not one bit. Hell, finding the time to shower was hard enough let alone working out. I found myself thinking okay, well I am never going to have my old figure back so now what? Of course you are never going to have your old figure back!! You created a human- inside of you!! So that got me to thinkin… if I’m not going to have my “old” body back and I’m not totally happy with this current body, then I am going to work toward my “new” body! A body that may have the signs of a mother (wider hips, stretch marks, etc), but a body that I am comfortable to live in EVERYDAY. Just because you are at a new stage in life and a much busier stage I might add, does NOT even for one second mean that you CANNOT achieve your health and fitness goals. I cannot say it enough, I work full-time, I have 2 children (2 years old and 16 months), my husband and I recently bought our first house which is a job in and of itself, and I am involved in more activities than I need to be, BUT that did not stop me. You have to want it and if you want it then you make it happen.
I can sit here and think of a million and one reasons aka excuses for why I couldn’t make this work, but if I did that then why would I be writing this post?? The point of this is to prove to you that no matter your situation and no matter your schedule, that you CAN make this work for you! Let me put it this way, you have a lot of new responsibility, you have a lot of new stress, and you have a lot less time; so why would you want to spend that time “trying” things that don’t work? You know deep down the shape you would like to be in and you know that there is some work that goes into it. There is no pill, no tea, no sprinkle powder, and no magic trick that is going to get you to where you want to be. BELIEVE ME I tried it all! I tried the gym and doing 1 hour long routines that I thought worked, I tried supplements that I thought would “do the trick” I really feel I’ve tried it all! I also “tried” the program that actually worked!! At first it was another one of those I’ll try it and see what happens deals, but little did I know it was going to be the it works, holy crap it really works deal!
There is this thing called a Challenge Group that holds you accountable to your goals. It gives you positive reinforcement, it gives you a support group of people that are in the same boat as you, it gives you meal planning tips and recipes, it gives you the motivation to reach your goals and not give up! The best part about this?? It is free with the purchase of a Challenge Pack through a Beachbody coach! So there really is a light at the end of the tunnel! I personally did the 21 Day Fix. To see my actual results, Click Here. You can choose the workout program that best suits you based upon your goals and the type of workouts that you enjoy. There are several programs that Beachbody offers that are 30 minute or less workouts (anyone can find time like that), in fact the 21 Day Fix workouts are only 30 minutes.
This is not just about weight loss, this is about leading a healthy lifestyle and paving the road for your family by making smart and healthy decisions. This is about being comfortable with your body and proud of the way you look and feel. This post is to show moms out there that you can be busy and healthy at the same time!
